When we Worship the Lord, we are enabled through Him to serve others.
Concordia has ample opportunities for every person to serve their Lord with special talents and gifts. 
The list below includes many areas in which you may choose to serve our loving God and others.

SUNDAY SERVICE – On Sundays, there are many regular ways to serve.  Youth may both usher and acolyte.  For adults there is also ushering, reading the Scriptures, the altar guild, working in the nursery, greeting guests & visitors and serving “coffee and” in the fellowship hall.  Each of these services needs to be taken care of every Sunday.  If you would like to help with one or more of them, contact the church office, 708-484-9784.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER – If you have a desire to teach youth between the age of two and the eighth grade, SUNDAY SCHOOL IS TAUGHT YEAR ROUND BETWEEN SERVICES, 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.  For more information, check out the Sunday School News Letter (canary insert) and Opportunities for Worship (reverse side). Teachers and substitutes are always needed.  To volunteer, see Luann Stirek or Amy Staubus or call the Office.

CHOIR – Is directed by Carol Zitko September through mid June.  The choir sings almost every week at either one service or the other and occasionally at both.  It is an excellent opportunity to share with others, the gift of God’s Love and Grace through music.  REHEARSALS ARE ON THURSDAY EVENINGS AT 7:30 P.M.  JOIN US!  It’s a rewarding experience.  EASTER CHOIR BEGINS FEBRUARY 21ST, 7:30 P.M.  It affords an opportunity to sing for Holy week and Easter.  We sing on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  Sing for any or all of these occasions.  For more information, contact Carol Zitko in the Church Office.

LUTHERAN WOMEN’S MISSIONARY LEAGUE (LWML) – Usually meets the SECOND TUESDAY of the Month AT 7 P.M. September through mid June (unless otherwise noted in the bulletin).   An active organization at Concordia, it is open to all ladies.  Concordia’s LWML is also very active within the Chicagoland area and the English District.  The focus is bringing God’s Word to the nations and fostering spiritual growth among its members.  ON FEBRUARY 10TH WE WILL HAVE OUR ANNUAL VALENTINE COOKIE SALE AND SPONSOR A SPECIAL VALENTINE FELLOWSHIP HOUR.  Those wishing to donate cookies or brownies may bring them on Saturday, February 9th, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH WE WILL HOLD OUR ANNUAL INSPIRATIONAL MOVIE NIGHT.  THE MOVIE FOR THIS YEAR IS, “FACING THE GIANTS”.  “It’s a great movie that every family in America should see!”  JOIN US…BRING THE FAMILY…ENJOY!!!  For more information, call Carol Zitko, in the church office, 708-484-9784 or speak with Patricia Hirshman.

LADIES’ AID – Is a service organization of our congregation which meets, September through June, with the exception of January, at noon on the FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH.  Bring a sandwich (dessert and beverage will be provided) and JOIN US.  A list of planned activities for the year is available from the office.  For more information, speak with Carol Stahnke.

SOCIAL CLUB – Usually gets together once a month as announced in the bulletin, September through June, for fun, food and fellowship.  Contact Walter Kariott or call the church office for more information.

YOUTH GROUP – Usually MEETS THE FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH AT 7 P.M. (or as scheduled in the bulletin). Youth usher and acolyte on the second Sunday of the month.  The Board of Youth meets the fourth Monday at 7:30 p.m.  If you would like to be involved with the Youth, please speak with Duane Bjorklund.

VISITING OUTREACH – MEETS AS SCHEDULED on the calendar and announced in the bulletin.  Visiting Outreach focuses on caring for God’s people and supports many that are in need.  Participation with Visiting Outreach is both enjoyable and rewarding.  For more information, talk to Gail Lofgren or call the church office.

PROPERTY COMMITTEE, STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE AND THE BOARDS OF EDUCATION, WORSHIP AND YOUTH  – These committees are appointed positions through the Church Council.  If you are interested in serving on any of our special committees, please call the church office, 708-484-9784.
