Music - Choir, Organ Music, and Praise and Promise
The Choir The Choir under the direction of Carol Zitko meets on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., September through June, in the choir room. The choir sings almost every week at either one service or the other and occasionally at both. It offers an excellent opportunity to share with others, the gift of God’s Love and Grace through music. Concordia’s choir currently is a wonderful blend of the voices of 14 individuals. Choir members include: (bass section) Hank Stahnke, Tom Kraus, Claude Childers, Jeff Geisler, (alto section) Luann Stirek, Joanie Kenning, Linda Susmilch, Debbie Paddock, (soprano section) Carol Stahnke, Helen Seegebrecht, Lorraine Lachman, Ardelle Kraus, Barb Lambert, Ellie Fiala. Organ Music at Concordia Lutheran Church of Berwyn The organ is used to lead the music at most services. The congregation is currently using “The Lutheran Hymnal” as a format for its worship. Approximately once each month the contemporary group, “Praise and Promise” leads the worship, incorporating more contemporary and gospel hymns and anthems. Occasionally pianist/soloist, Rebecca Hemminger, leads the worship.
Praise and Promise Worship Team PRAISE & PROMISE is a worship team currently composed of seven Concordia members. The mission statement of Praise and Promise is to worship and praise our Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, through the use of hymns & Christian spiritual music, to serve Jesus, and to witness to others to bring them closer to Christ, through our ministry of music. The team prepares and provides the music for both the 8:30 and 11:00 services about once a month. They recently began to vastly expand their repertoire. They enjoy playing a wide variety of music. In each service you will hear both traditional hymns as well as contemporary songs by popular Christian artists. Currently the team includes:
