June 2008

CONCORDIA LITTLE LAMBS CELEBRATES 15 YEARS—PRAISE THE LORD!

Our most exciting news this month was the hatching of seventeen chicks in our kindergarten class!  They have been safely transported to a farm, with the exception of one that died.

All of our classes enjoyed observing caterpillars, their chrysalis, and the emerging butterflies.  They also enjoyed watching them fly away freely.

Our kindergarten and three day preschool classes enjoyed a trip on a Metra train to the DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville.  Riding on the train was a highlight and there were so many exciting things to do at the museum.

NOW is the time to enroll in our Little Lambs Program for the fall. Openings remain for children who will be three or four by September 1, 2008, and who are potty-trained for the new term which meets from September through May.  Information and application forms are available in the narthex or by calling the school at 795-7563.  Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so don't delay!

Our theme for our Summer Camp this year is CREEPY CRAWLIES.  We hope to visit the Morton Arboretum with their giant bug sculptures.  The camp includes children who have completed kindergarten, first, and second grades as well as those who are ages three, four, or five, by January 1, 2008, and potty-trained. Camp meets Mondays through Thursdays, from 9-11:45, beginning June 23 and ending July 10. The cost for the camp is $145.  Application forms are available in the narthex or by calling Kay Matthews 795-7563.  Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our Little Lambs had a great time at our Trike-a-thon for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  They really enjoyed riding their bikes around and around and around the track set up for them--such energy!--and raised over $1200!

The children of our kindergarten and preschool have donated enough money in their chapel offerings to purchase two horses for families in Kazakhstan, two cows for a family in Africa, and two sheep for two families in Kyrgystan, plus some chickens.  Both horses and cows provide milk for a family’s nourishment and for them to sell so that they can provide for themselves.  In Kazakhstan, children and adults drink horse milk, which is even more nutritious than cow’s milk.  The horses also provide fertilizer so people can grow food.  The people have started a dairy and bought equipment for it.  This is providing jobs to people so that they can provide for their children.

Please continue to save all the Campbell's labels and library stamps from the Family Christian bookstore, as well as cell phones, ink cartridges, digital cameras, and DVDs.  We enjoy getting new things with them.

Thanks for your prayers and your support!  We sadly say good-bye to Renae Korenchan and Julie Tipton, who have so faithfully served Little Lambs for many years.  They will be greatly missed.
